MONTHLY - POTATOES ... How do you find them? Great? OK? Routine? Boring?
In any which case, just cook up something with this universal tuber, take pictures, and publish them along with the recipe & a write-up on your blog on the 1st of March. That would be your entry to the March edition of Jihva for Ingredients hosted by Vaishali on my blog Happy Burp. Wanna go for it?
NOW UNTIL JUNE 1st - TGRWT #2. TGRWT (They Go Really Well Together) is about flavour pairing of ingredients that wouldn't usually be put together, based on their volatile aroma compounds. It is a little bit sciency, but it is really just about experimenting with new flavour combinations to see how they work out, instead of using the same flavours all the time! This months ingredients are Banana & Parsley, so people can make a sweet or savoury dish that contains both of these. Full instructions are available right here. The event was created by Martin at http://blog.khymos.org/.
NOW UNTIL JUNE 3rd - Retro Recipe Challenge #7. For Retro Recipe Challenge #7 -- From Retro With Love -- recreate a dish with international flare using a recipe first published before 1985. After you've created your dish, post the recipe on your blog, along with the year it was published, its source (e.g., Gourmet), a pic and your review. Submit your entry to RetroRecipeChallengeATgmailDOTcom by Sunday, June 3 at 11:59pm EST. In the email, please include Your name or blogging nickname, your blog's name and URL, the recipe's title, the post's URL. Please attach a photo (no larger than 100x100 pixels) and include "RRC#7" in the subject line. Additional details right here.
NOW UNTIL JUNE 6th - Monthly Mingle #11. Hard to believe it's been nearly a year since this event started, but it is. This round, the theme is Big Birthday Bang! Information is here.
NOW UNTIL JUNE 8th - Deep Freeze Summer Challenge. This challenge calls for creativity, not only in the kitchen, but in the freezer. Roll up your sleeves, throw on a big sweater, and dive into the abyss of bags, boxes, and ice cube-filled freezer. All submissions must include ingredients from your freezer. You may use seasonings &/or oils, milk/cream, and/or eggs to assist you if needed. Your submission can be a full meal, or a single dish, snack, or other – it is totally up to you. Additional details can be found in the announcement post here.

The deadline for entries is Tuesday, June 19th, a roundup will be posted Friday, June 22. Full details are available here.
NOW UNTIL JUNE 25th - Sugar High Friday (SHF) - The Sweetest Thing. "So, I ask you. What is your favourite, most craved dessert? What do you want when you are on a diet or when you've been away from home for a long time? What dessert always catches your eye on a menu in a restaurant and you've had it made by a thousand different people but never made it yourself? I want to know. I want you to make it for SHF this month and post about it." Complete details are right here.

NOW UNTIL JUNE 29th - Muffin Monday Round-Up #4. It's finally time to announce the theme for MM04. I must say that choosing the theme was NOT easy: so much to choose from that in the end I decided not to ; ) Instead, I would like you to complement the muffin of your choice with the perfect drink: are you a morning-oatmeal-apple-muffin-with-freshly-squeezed-carrot-and-beetroot-juice type of person, or you'd rather enjoy your choco muffin with a cup of flavoured coffee after the kids have gone to bed? (any personal reference is purely casual) ... Or maybe this is the perfect excuse to think of an unexplored combo and discover a new treat! You can be as traditional or inventive as your wish: muffins can be sweet or savoury and drinks can be hot or cold. Complete details are here.
NOW UNTIL JUNE 29th - Chilled Out. This new event comes to you from 28 Cooks. I'm looking for your best frozen concoction recipes. I'm talking sorbets, I'm talking granitas, I'm talking frozen smoothies - anything that's icy cool and refreshing, I'm looking for it. COTM is my blogs way of saying: let’s generate a pile of possibilities for mood-setting, table-gracing, stage-grabbing centerpieces. Not just from my singular humble mind, but from the minds and hearts of foodies all over. What is your best idea this month? How did you make your create artful ambiance and/or give your table more presence? What inspired your centerpiece? Email entry and photo URL here: Janelle at talkoftomatoes dot com.
NOW UNTIL JULY 1st - They Really Go Well Together #3. The idea of the event is to pair ingredients that have similar volatile aroma compounds. This month's ingredients are srawberry and coriander. Complete details are right here.
NOW UNTIL JULY 1st - Wild Food. Host Bron Marshall is inviting and encouraging food bloggers to join with her and take a walk on the WILD side. The theme for this month is… Wild Weeds! You can choose to create something new or share a past experience cooking or eating any legal Wild Weed, anything that grows Wild in your backyard, home town, or country. The theme's been extended to include any native plant, fungi, seaweed, fresh Wild herbs, dried Wild herbs or spices, Wild greens or any weed grown or sold as food i.e dandelions, nettles, watercress, Wild thyme, Wild mint, Wattle seeds, Wild pepper, Samphire (sea asparagus), piko-piko, fern fronds etc. As living in the heart of many cities some of us don't have access to such products, any meal, dish, dessert or treat that has been given the Wild Weed treatment, theme, shape, name etc. is totally accepted! This is a fun event aimed at using ones' imagination! Bron knows you won't be silly enough to go out hunting endangered plant life, or serving up unknown, unidentified or illegal weeds!! Visit Bron's blog for more information and WILD ideas!
NOW UNTIL JULY 4th - Monthly Mingle. This time, the theme is Scream for Ice-Cream. July is HOT. Temperatures rise and many of us are on summer break. It's a great month to kick back, relax and chill with a refreshing bowl of something cool. Cool, creamy, smooth, rich and straight out of the freezer. Some say there are only "31 flavors", but I believe you all can prove that theory wrong! This is what I want for the next mingle: your perfect ice-cream creation. Be creative, be imaginative most of all be cool. Pair flavors never dared, make floats, sundaes or sorbets - whatever you do I want you all to scream for ICE-CREAM! Complete details are here.

NOW UNTIL JULY 15th - Weekend Cookbook Challenge #18. This month the theme is red and white. All the info you need is right here.
NOW UNTIL JULY 18th - Blog Or Bust #1. This brand new monthly event comes to us courtesy of Clumsy Cook. This blogging event will feature healthyish foods that won’t bust the measurement tape. There are no rules about low-carb or low-fat (though I’d love some recipes), but all entries should have good health in mind—be it the inclusion of whole grains, nutrient rich ingredients, etc. A dish that you won’t regret cleaning your plate for! You don’t have to include a calorie count, but you can if you want, and the calorie count doesn’t have to be low as long as the recipe is nutritious. Feel free to add any weight loss tips or tidbits in your post! If you have any concerns about whether your recipe is nutritious, send it anyway! I’ll post and we can all discuss what we think. I’ll post a theme for each month’s event. The first Blog or Bust event theme is “Party food.” Since it’s summer, and everyone loves a get together in the backyard, beach, or park, this month’s theme can feature the food you’d like to eat there. No rules really—other than creating something “good for you” (we need to get into those bathing suits ya know!) Your dish can feed a party of 30 or 1, so no need to focus on potato salads and fruit punch (though those would be great too!) Simply create a dish you’d like to share with family and friends. Complete details are here.
NEW!! NOW UNTIL AUGUST 1st - They Really Go Well Together (TRGWT) #4. The idea of the event is to pair ingredients that have similar volatile aroma compounds. This month's ingredients are mint and mustard. Prepare a dish that combines mint and mustard (any type mint or mustard). You can either use an existing recipe (if there is any) or come up with your own. Take a picture of the dish and write an entry in your blog by August 1st with TGRWT #4 in the title. Readers will be particularily interested in how the flavour pairing worked out, so make an attempt at describing the succession of taste and aroma and whether you liked it or not. A round-up will be posted with pictures. Complete details can be found here.
